The BELTIFI OF THE MONTH was created to showcase the accomplishments and merits of young Haitian-American woman. Established to create a unity in the Haitian community, our mission is help develop new leaders in our era. For the month of December, we introduce to you Jennifer Laroche, a BelTiFi that embodies sophistication, elegance, and grace.

BEL: How do you embody a BelTiFi?

JL: I feel I embody a BelTiFi because I am a strong, beautiful brown-skinned Haitian, African American and I am proud of my culture and where I come from.  I strive to be as successful as can be and am currently a professional dancer performing as a Radio City Rockette, traveling the country performing in front of hundreds of thousands of  people.  Meanwhile, I am producing my own hosiery line specifically designed for African American women. I am caring, educated and very close with my family.  I just want to contribute my knowledge and loveto the rest of the world.

BEL: How does being a Haitian Women reflect through you and your personal endeavors?

JL: I believe that there is a misconception of African american females, especially Haitian females. Being dark-skinned, I have experienced criticism and negativity and it becomes hard to deal with, but because I am proud and come from my strong & beautiful haitian mother I know that ignorance is an unfornate part of life. But as long as I know who I am and show those ignorant people how beautiful, sophsticated, and intelligent Haitian women really are, I know I am doing my part to make my country proud.

BEL: What are some of your recent accomplishments?

JL: I graduated college cum laude and moved to the big city(NYC) to become a performer and succeeded quite quickly. I started mycareer with a bang so I only expect to grow from here.

BEL: Why do you think BelTiFi is vital in our community?

JL: I feel it is important to shine this light on the tremendous women that come from a country of poverty. Young girls can see this group and feel a part of something truly amazing and feel proud of that.

BEL: Any Major Announcements?

JL: Yes! Be on the look out for a spectacular hosiery line by Jenny Laroche! It is still in the beginning stages so there is no specific date, but keep in eye out over the next couple of months. I love being a BelTiFi!!
